About Us

100 Years of Alpha Gamma

Delta Zeta Alpha Gamma chapter was founded September 9th, 1922, celebrating one hundred years on Alabama’s campus in 2022. With over four hundred members, we are the largest Delta Zeta chapter. The newly rebuilt Alpha Gamma house – almost 40,000 square feet – provides a welcoming home for our large membership.

Worldwide Sisterhood

Enjoying over 110 years of sisterhood, Delta Zeta is one of the largest of the 26 National Panhellenic Council (NPC) sororities with 160 Chapters in the United States and Canada. Over 200 alumnae chapters offer continuing association in 49 states, including Hawaii as well as the United Kingdom and Canada. Delta Zeta has over 220,000 initiated members and at any given time, Delta Zeta has more than 12,000 undergraduate members.

  • Service

Delta Zeta’s philanthropy is speech and hearing. We serve those affected by speech and hearing through global, national, and local service projects. Our global service project is through SeriousFun Children’s Network, who operate The Painted Turtle Camp. The Painted Turtle’s mission is to provide an authentic camp experience for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses at no cost to the campers or their families. The American Society for Deaf Children is our chapter’s national service project, helping raise awareness for youth with hearing impairments and provide families of deaf children with resources and programming. Lastly, our chapter serves many local organizations, including the UA Speech and Hearing Center and Tuscaloosa One Place.

  • Sisterhood

“We have what we need. One another and what we believe.” Friendship is the glue that holds our chapter close. Delta Zeta celebrates sisterhood by offering memorable adventures that make a large chapter feel small. Being a DZ instills a deep feeling of belonging, a true home away from home. The Delta Zeta creed states, “to my friends, understanding and appreciation,” perfectly describing the act of sisterhood.

  • Leadership

We are proud to say 100% of our chapter is involved in another on campus organization outside of Delta Zeta. Even more so, our sisterhood encourages young women to set big goals and chase after them. We are, first and foremost, students. Membership in Delta Zeta helps ensure academic success through sister lead mentorship, advising, and tutoring. Additionally, our chapter provides members the opportunity to assume positions through our Executive board and Alpha board, where responsibilities range from Treasurer to T-Shirt Chair. The Alpha Gamma chapter also facilitates professional development events for members, providing networking and mock interviews.
