Becoming our best self is a lifelong process, so we prioritize new experiences, academics and developing life skills. We are, first and foremost, students. Membership in Delta Zeta is meant to enhance a woman’s college education, a space to master academic achievement, personal growth and social connection.
Philanthropy
Our national service project, The Painted Turtle Camp, is a camp for terminally-ill children. This camp is free to the families and is run entirely on donations. The Painted Turtle’s mission is to provide a year-round, life-changing environment and authentic camp experience for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Delta Zeta’s national philanthropies also include the House Ear Institute and Gallaudet University. The Alpha Gamma Chapter supports these organizations throughout the year through various fundraisers and events. Our chapter supports many other organizations on and off the Alabama campus such as: Tuscaloosa’s One Place, Muscular Dystrophy Awareness, International Children’s Heart Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, various Mission trips, Fund-A-Field, Beat Auburn Beat Hunger, Greek Relief Fund, Relay for Life, the RISE Center, Be the Match, Habitat for Humanity, and Make-A-Wish. In total, the Alpha Gamma chapter of Delta Zeta recorded over 10,000 hours in 2019, along with donating over $53,000. As the Delta Zeta creed states: "May I give graciously what is mine."
Building Community
Lake days, football games, Big/Little, Halloween pumpkin carving, movies at the theater, trivia nights and crazy outings are different ways we, as a sisterhood, find time to spend together. No matter the circumstances, we always find time to come together and spend quality time with each other. As Delta Zetas, this is the true meaning of sisterhood.
